Mahā Triphalādya ghṛta is a medicated semisolid preparation made with the ingredients in the Formulation composition given below, with Ghṛta as the basic ingredient.

Method of preparation
- Take all ingredients of pharmacopoeial quality.
- Take fresh Bhṛṅgarāja, Śatāvarī, Guḍūcī and Āmalakī and wash thoroughly with water. Grind and filter with muslin cloth to obtain Svarasa.
- Take fresh Vāṣā leaves and obtain juice by Puṭapāka method
- Soak the coarse Tripha powder in potable water in the specified ratio for overnight, boil it till the volume is reduced to one fourth of its original volume, cool the *Kvātha and filtered through muslin cloth.
- Treat Ghṛta to prepare Murcchita Ghrta.[1]
Description
- A low melting Gh¤ta, greenish cream in colour, unctuous to touch, no specific odour and taste bitter.
Storage
- Store in a cool place in tightly closed container, protect from light and moisture.
Therapeutic uses
- Naktāndhya (night blindness), Timira (cataract), Kāca (cataract), Nīlikā (mole), Paṭala Arbuda (growth in the layers of eyes), Netrābhiṣyanda (conjunctivitis), Adhimantha (glaucoma), Pakṣmakopa (trichiasis/entropion), Netraroga (disease of eyes), Adṛṣṭi (blindness); Mandadṛṣṭi
(diminished vision); Netrasr¡va (chronic dacrocystitis/epiphora); Netraka¸·£ (itching in eyes); Duradṛṣṭi (hypermetropia), Samipaddṛṣṭi (myopia).
Dose
- 6 to 12 gm twice a day.
Anupāna
- Warm milk, warm water.
