Citrakādi Cūrṇa is a powder preparation made with the ingredients in the Formulation Composition given below.

Pippalījaṭā (Pippalī API) Piper longum St. 12 g

Ajamodā API Apium leptophyllum Fr. 12 g
Marica API Piper nigrum Fr. 12 g
Svarjikā (Svarjīkṣāra (API)) Crude alkaline earth 6 g

Sindhu (Saindhava Lavaṇa (API)) Rock salt 6 g

Method of preparation

  • Take all ingredients of pharmacopoeial quality.
  • Treat Hiṅgu to prepare Hiṇgu - Śuddha.
  • Roast Svarjikā kṣāra and Yava kṣāra in a stainless steel pan on low flame till free from moisture.
  • Roast coarsely powdered Sauvarcala, Saindhava, Sāmudra and Viḍa Lavaṇa in a stainless steel pan on low flame till free from moisture, powder separately and pass through 180 µm I. S. sieve (sieve number 85).
  • Wash, clean, dry the ingredients numbered 1, 2 and 4 to 8 of the Formulation Composition and powder separately. The powders should completely pass through 355 µm I. S. sieve (sieve number 44) and not less than 50 per cent pass through through 180 µm I. S. sieve (sieve number 85). [1]

Description

  • Brown-coloured, smooth powder with pleasant odour, sour, spicy and pungent taste. The powder completely passes through 355 µm I. S. sieve (sieve number 44) and not less than 50 per cent pass through 180 µm I. S. sieve(sieve number 85).

Storage

  • Store in a cool place in tightly closed containers, protected from light and moisture.

Therapeutic uses

  • Arocaka (Tastlessness), Āmajaśūla (Intestinal colic), Grahaṇī (Malabsorption syndrome), Gulma (Abdominal dump), Agnimāndya (Digestive impairment), Kaphadoṣa (Vitiation of Kapha dosha)

Dose

  • 3 g with warm water.
