The name of this pose comes from "jathara" meaning "stomach", "parivrtta" meaning "revolved", and "asana" meaning "posture" or "seat".

- Loosens the spine and helps one relax
- It also stretches the outside of the hips and the glutes.

- Be careful while doing this pose if you have a spinal, neck or hip injury.
