Caltha palustris is a herbaceous perennial plant. The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine and sometimes as a food. It is grown as an ornamental in gardens, where it can be used to make a ground cover.

Fits, Anaemia, Colds, Sores, Pain in the abdomen, Vomiting, Headache, Singing in ears, Dysuria, Diarrhoea.

How to plant/cultivate

A plant of the waterside, it prefers growing in a sunny position in wet soils or shallow water up to 15cm deep.[3]

Commonly seen growing in areas

Wet areas in marshes, Fens, Ditches, Wet alder woods, Rare on very base poor peat.
