The name of this pose comes from "stit" meaning "standing", "urdhva" meaning "upward", "mukha" meaning "face", "uttana" meaning "intense stretch", "kulpa" meaning "ankle", "dhanu" meaning "bow", and "asana" meaning "posture" or "seat".
