Seeds—hepatotoxic. Seed oil gave fatty acids—linoleic, linolenic and oleic. Pyrrolizidine alkaloids—junceine, tricodesmine, riddelline, seneciphylline and senecionine were also obtained.<ref name="chemical composition"/>
