Capparis spinosa is a plant of drier warm temperate areas with hot summers, extending through the subtropics to tropical areas. Capers can be grown easily from fresh seeds gathered from ripe fruit and planted into well drained seed-raising mix. Seedlings will appear in 2–4 weeks.<ref name="How to plant/cultivate"/>
