Rosa sericea is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to 2.00 metres tall. It is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and medicine.

Headaches, Liver complaints, Uterine diseases, Cancer.[1]

Chemical Composition

The fruit of many members of this genus is a very rich source of vitamins and minerals, especially in vitamins A, C and E, flavanoids and other bio-active compounds.[2]

Mode of Propagation

Seeds, Cuttings of half-ripe wood, Cuttings of mature wood.

How to plant/cultivate

Succeeds in most soils, preferring a circumneutral soil and a sunny position. Grows well in heavy clay soils. Dislikes water-logged soils.[4]

Commonly seen growing in areas

Forests, Shrubberies, Alpine slopes, On mountain tops and slopes of valleys, On dry sunny places.
