This tree is planted as an ornamental for its showy, scented flowers, and as a botanical specimen for its interesting fruit. the trees are grown extensively in Shiva temples in India. The flowers are called shivalinga flowers in hindi; nagamalli flowers or mallikarjuna flowers in telugu.


This fantabulous herb has a various health benefits, some of them are listed below:
  1. Native amazonians use extracts of several parts of the trees to treat hypertension, tumors, pain, and inflammation
  2. It has been used to treat the common cold, stomachache, skin conditions and wounds, malaria and toothache
