It contains Four triterpenoidsThe leaves contain flavonoids—scutellarein (0.5%), nine steroids hispidulin (0.1%) and steroid glycosides their 7-O-glucuronides; also sterols. Flowers contain beta-sitosterol and two flavonoids were isolated from the roots of Clerodendrum indicum, whereas three triterpenoids, six steroids and steroid glycosides . The bark yields hexitol and one phenylethanoid glycosidesorbitol.<ref name="chemical composition"/>
