Juncus effusus
Juncus effusus with the common names common rush or soft rush, is a perennial herbaceous flowering plant species in the family Juncaceae. In North America, the common name soft rush also refers to Juncus interior.

The Stems yield araban and xylan, Dry stems yielded six phenolic constituents: 7-carboxy-2-hydroxy-1-methyl-5-vinyl-9, 10-dihydrophenanthrene, 2,3-isopylidene-1-O-ferulic acid glyceride, (2S)-2, 3-isopylidene-1-0-p-coumaroyl glycer- ide, dehydroeffusal, p-hydroxybenzaldehyde and luteolin- 5,3'-dimethyl ether. How to plant/cultivate
Soil: Juncus effusus thrives in acidic, wet soils that have poor drainage. Irrigation: Plants require permanent water, ideally between 5 and 10cm (2-4 inch) deep, it can be grown near water with pebbles and rocks or with continual irrigation.[4]
