Karanja consists of seeds of Pongamia pinnata (Linn.) Merr, Syn. Pongamia glabra vent.(Fam. Leguminosae),a medium sized glabrous tree with a short bole and spreading crown and found almost throughout India upto an altitude of 1200 m.[1]
