Ethanol extract of leaves yielded tannins,obtusinphlobatannins, chrysoobtusin-2-O-beta-glucosidesaponin, flavonoids, terpenoids, and cardiac glycosides. Study for essential oil yielded the following major constituents in %: (Stem) hexadecanoic acid,physcionoctadecadienoic acid,emodindodecanoic acid,chrysophanollinalyl propanoate,obtusifolintetradecanoic acid,obtusifolin-2-O-betaA-D-glucosideeudesmol, alaternin 2y-Oeudesmost 4-β-Dglucopyranosideethoxy phenol; (Leaf)15hexadecanoic acid, brassinosteroids(brassinolide2.pentanol, castasteronedodecanoic acid, typhasterolß-ionone,teasteronefarnesyl acetone, and 28a-norcastasteroneionone (Rhizome)hexadecanoic acid, andmonoglycerides (monopalmitin andmonoolein)16. Phenolic glycosides such asrubrofusarin triglucoside9, nor12-rubrofusaringentiobiosideoctadecadienoic acid, demethylflavasperonegentiobiosidedodecanoic acid , torachrysone gentiobiosidetetradecanoic acid,torachrysone tetraglucoside and torachrysoneapioglucoside were also isolated 17linalool, a-terpinol <ref name="chemical composition"/>
