Polyalthia longifolia

Polyalthia longifolia is an evergreen tree growing up to 20 metres tall. The bole is straight. The tree is cultivated for its timber in southeast Asia. it is also often grown as an ornamental.The tree is held in high regard by Hindus, who often plant it near temples.

Chemical Composition

It contains 3 new clerodane-type diterpenes, 6alpha,16-dihydroxycleroda,13-dien-15-oic acid, 6alpha,16-dihydroxycleroda,13-dien-15-oic acid and 4alpha, 18beta-epoxy-16-hydroxyclerod-13-en-15-oic acid and four new protoberberine alkaloids etc.[2]
