Chives, Allium schoenoprasum

Chives is the common name of Allium schoenoprasum, an edible species of the Allium genus.A perennial plant, it is widespread in nature across much of Europe, Asia, and North America.[1]

Contains volatile oils, flavonoids, apigenin, luteolin, quercetin, kaempferol, tiliroside, triterpene glycosides including euscapic acid and tormentic acid, phenolic acids, and 3%–21% tannins.[2]

Chives are cultivated both for their culinary uses and their ornamental value; the violet flowers are often used in ornamental dry bouquets.[34] The flowers are also edible and are used in salads,[35] or used to make Blossom vinegars.[4]
