Kukkutasana

Kukkutasana (Sanskrit: कुक्कुटासन; IAST: Kukkuṭāsana), Cock Pose, or Rooster Posture is an asana.

Etymology

The name comes from the Sanskrit words kukkuṭā meaning "cock" and asana (आसन) meaning "posture" or "seat".

Benefits

Kukkuṭāsana helps in the strengthening of the joints as the wrists, elbows and shoulders; helps in the improvement of the digestive system; increases the balance in the body. This asana is very beneficial for women in overcoming the hip pain and discomfort from menstruation. Variations

Two variations of Kukkutasana are Urdhva Kukkutasana (Upward Cock Pose)[8] and Parsva Kukkutasana (Sideways Cock Pose).
