Blepharis edulis

Blepharis edulis is an erect to prostrate, annual to perennial plant. It grows up to 50cm tall. This is an exceedingly variable species and plants in dry places. It is sometimes gathered from the wild for its edible seed.

Uses

Fevers, Urinary discharges, Leucoderma, Stop nasal haemorrhage, Asthma, Cough, Inflammation of throat, Mental derangements.

Seeds, Leaves, Roots.

Chemical Composition

White crystalline body soluble in water, amylic and ethylic alcohol which is insoluble in ether and petrolium ether.[1]

Blepharis edulis is wild species not cultivated species. Propagation by various methods, such as rooting of stem cutting, seed propagation, micropagation.[3]

Dry Acacia-Commiphora bushland, Acacia bushland and grassland, semidesert scrub, lava outcrops, hardpans, often on alkaline or saline soils; 150–1450 m.[5]
