Balaa Taila is a medicated oil preparation made with the ingredients in the Formulation Composition given below with murcchita Tila taila as the basic ingredient

Method of preparation

  • Take all ingredients of pharmacopoeial quality.
  • Treat Tila taila to prepare murcchita Tila taila.
  • A day prior to the sneha paka, iniate to prepare Mastu.
  • Wash, clean, dry the ingredients numbered 1 to 3 of the Formulation Composition, powder separately and pass through 355 µm I. S. sieve (sieve number 44) (kvatha dravya).
  • Add water for decoction to the kvatha dravya and soak for 4 h, heat and reduce the volume to one-tenth. Filter through muslin cloth to obtain kvatha.
  • Wash and clean the cut pieces of Ikshu, and squeeze the juice and strain through muslin cloth to obtain Ikshu svarasa.[1]

Description

  • Medicated oil, light golden yellow in color with a pleasant odour.

Storage

  • Store in a cool place in tightly closed containers, protected from light and moisture.

Therapeutic uses

  • Chardi (emesis), Gulma (abdominal lump), Kasa (cough), shvasa (Asthma), Jvara (fever), Murcca¡ (syncope), Kshata (wound), Kshaya (Pthisis), Apasmara (Epilepsy), Vatavyadhi (diseases due to Vata dosha), Plihi (splenic disease), shosha (cachexia).

Dose

  • 5-10 ml per day in divided doses; for external use as advised by the physician.
