Pātana is of three types, viz.ūrdhvapātana, adhahpātana and tiryakpātana. Details of their procedure is as below.

Pātana Composition

Rasa (Pārada) - - 3 part
Arka cūrṇa (Tāmara) - 1 part
Jambīra (nimbū) rasa - Fr. QS

Method

Arka (Tāmra) cūrna is added to Pārada and grounded well in a khalva with nimbū svarasa. this is to be pasted in the lower pot of ḍamarū yantra and heated for three hours. The pārada is collected from the inside of upper pot, which is kept cool, with a wet cloth pad.[1]
