The Ardha Gajapuṭa is an arrangement for heating the processed mineral and mettalic materials by placing them in a pit of 42 cm each (half raja hasta) in lenght , breadth and depth, Half the pit is filled with cow-dung cakes. The śarāva sampuṭa with material is put upon it.The empty space above the śarāva sampuṭa is also filled with cow-dung cakes. The puṭa is then ignited.[1]
