Induparni, Anisochilus carnosus

Anisochilus carnosus is a fleshy leaved seasonal herb with succulent round leaves and lavender like flowers. It can be found in the drier parts of peninsular India after the onset of the rains.

Chemical Composition

The essential oil from aerial parts of Anisochilus carnosus (Linn. fil.) Benth. (Lamiaceae) was obtained by hydrodistillation. The oil content was 0.13% (v/w), on a fresh weight basis.[1]

Simple Opposite Semisucculent annual herbs, branchlets pubescent. Leaves 2-5 x 2-3.5 cm, broadly ovate, base turncate or cordate, margin crenate-serrate, apex obtuse, verrucose above, pubescent below, subsucculent; petiole to 4 cm long.
