Yoga sutra 1.22
<blockquote>
मृदुमध्याधिमात्रत्वात् ततोऽपि विशेषः॥२२॥
mṛdu-madhya-adhimātratvāt-tato’pi viśeṣaḥ
</blockquote>
#mṛdu: ''mild, slow''
#madhya: ''medium''
#adhimātra: ''intense, strong''
#tvāt: ''due to''
#tato’pi: ''also, more than that''
#viśeṣaḥ: ''special, distinction''
:'''With the intensity of urge rising through the mild, medium and strong conditions, asamprajnata samadhi can be achieved sooner.'''
:::::OR
:'''The time necessary for success (attainment) further depends on whether the practice is mild, medium or intense.'''
'''Three degrees of eagerness''' - The effort varios aspirants put in vary to a great degree. While practising same type of sadhana, some take less time, and some take long time, and many take very long time to reach the goal. This is due to the intensity of their will power, conviction, sincerity; how serious the practitioner is. The time they take depends on their mental attitude. Here we can take example of Dhruva Maharaj, the great devotee of Lord Vishnu. He reached God with his sincerity and firmness of purpose to meet God at a very young age.
An aspirant must have these mental qualities to achive the goal. These intense stages of earnestness are described as mild, medium and strong. The energy level, enthusiasm, conviction must remain till the end, no matter how long the sadhana takes to reach the goal. An aspirant with strong urge, and intention does not stop or rest until the goal is achieved.
