Gavedhuka consists of the dried root of Coix lachryma-jobi Linn. syn. C. lachryma Linn. (Fam. Gramineae), a perennial or annual grass found in India, widely distributed throughout the plains and warm slopes of hills upto 1500 m.

How to plant/cultivate
Job's Tears grows best in the moister areas of the tropics, succeeding at elevations up to 2,000 metres. It is reported to tolerate an annual precipitation in the range of 610 - 4290mm, an average annual temperature of 9.6 to 27.8°c and a pH in the range of 4.5 to 8.4[3]
