Doddapala, Saptaparna

Alstonia scholaris is a medium to large stately tree, growing to about 40 metres tall with a somewhat tessellated corky grey to grey-white bark. Saptaparna consists of stem bark of Alstonia scholaris (Lin) a tall evergreen tree, found in the Sub-Himalayan tracts ascending to 900m from Jammu eastwards and western peninsula mostly in deciduous and evergreen forests.[1]

Chest Pain, Headache, Stomachache, Gastric problems, Fever, Skin diseases, Intestinal worms,Diabetes, Vomiting.

Principal constituents of leaf, barks of stems and roots are indole alkaloids, picrinine, nareline, akuammicine, scholarine, strictamine, tetrahydroalastonine, detamine, echitenine, echitamine etc.[2]
