Vishagni is a small tree that can grow up to 8m. The leaves are arranged in whorls of 3-6 along the stem. Alstonia venenata is found in the hills of peninsular India and the western ghats.

Chemical Composition
The plant is a rich source of indole alkaloids. Major alkaloids in the stembark are alstovenine, venenatine, 3-dehydroalstovenine, reserpine (0.003–0.3%), venoxidine and kopsinine. The fruit contains vincadifformine type of alkaloids. [1]
