Prasaritapadottanasana [1] is an Asana. It is translated as Legs Spread Intense Stretch Pose or Wide Legged Forward Bend from Sanskrit.
The name of this pose comes from "prasarita" meaning "spread apart", "pada" meaning "foot", "uttana" meaning "intense stretch" and "asana" meaning "posture" or "seat". It has several variations: A, B, C, D.
Benefits
- It stretches the hamstrings (back of the thighs), lower back.
- Promotes bloodflow to the internal organs.
Cautions
- Be careful while doing this pose if you have high blood pressure, hamstring or lower back injuries.
