മലയാളം: മേന്തോന്നി ‘ഗ്ലോറി ലില്ലി’ എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന പടർന്നു കയറുന്ന ചെടിയെ മേന്തോന്നിഎന്നും പറയൻ ചെടി എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. വിരിയുമ്പോൾ മഞ്ഞനിറമുള്ള മനോഹരമായ പൂക്കൾ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു. അതിനുശേഷം പൂക്കളുടെ നിറം കടും ചുവപ്പോ, ഓറഞ്ചു ചുവപ്പോ ആകുകയും ദളങ്ങൾ വളഞ്ഞ് പിരിയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇതിൻറെ കിഴങ്ങുകൾ നീളമുള്ളതും പെൻസിലിന്റെ വണ്ണമുള്ളതാണ്. വിഷസസ്യമായ മേന്തോന്നിയുടെ കിഴങ്ങ് ചിലയിനം ഔഷധ നിർമ്മാണത്തിന് ഉപയൊഗിക്കുന്നു.
English: Name: Gloriosa superba, Family: Liliaceae. Menthonni The climbing plant known as Menthonni 'Glory Lily' is also known as Menthonni and Parayaan Patali. When it blooms, it produces beautiful yellow flowers. After that, the color of the flowers becomes dark red or orange-red and the petals curl and split. Its tubers are long and pencil colored. The tuber of the poisonous plant Mentonni is used in the manufacture of some medicines. |
