Sanjivani vati is a pill preparation made with the ingredients in the Formulation Composition given below.

K¤À¸¡ (Pippal¢ API) Piper longum Fr. 1 part
Pathy¡ (Har¢tak¢ API) Terminalia chebula P. 1 part
Ëmala (Ëmalak¢ API) Phyllanthus emblica P. 1 part
Bibh¢taka API Terminalia bellirica P. 1 part
Vac¡ API Acorus calamus Rz. 1 part
Gu·£c¢ API Tinospora cordifolia St. 1 part
Bhall¡taka API - áuddha Semecarpus anacardium Fr. 1 part
ViÀa (Vatsan¡bha API) - áuddha Aconitum chasmanthum Rt. Tr. 1 part

Method of preparation

  • Take all ingredients of pharmacopoeial quality.
  • Treat Bhallataka to get Bhallataka - shuddha.
  • Treat Vatsanabha to get Vatsanabha - shuddha.
  • Wash, clean, dry the ingredients numbered 1 to 8 of the Formulation Composition, powder separately and pass through 180 µm I. S. sieve(sieve number 85).
  • Mix all the ingredients thoroughly to prepare a homogenous blend.
  • Powder Bhallataka - shuddha and Vatsanabha- shuddha separately and pass through 180 µm I. [1]

  • Black coloured pills with a pleasant odour and acrid taste.

Storage

  • Store in a cool place in tightly closed containers, protected from light and moisture.

Therapeutic uses

  • Ajirna (Indigestion), Gulma (Abdominal lump), Visucika (Gastroenteritis with piercing pain), Sarpadaosa (Snake bite).

Dose

  • 500 mg - 1 g per day in divided doses with warm water/ Ardraka svarasa.

Physico-chemical parameters

Total Ash Not more than 4 per cent
Acid-insoluble ash Not more than 1 per cent
Alcohol-soluble extractive Not less than 18 per cent
Water-soluble extractive Not less than 17 per cent
Loss on drying Not more than 10 per cent
pH (1 % aqueous solution) 4.0 to 5.5
