Nelabevu is an annual herbaceous plant in the family Acanthaceae. It is native to India and Sri Lanka. It is widely cultivated in Southern and Southeastern Asia, Where it has been traditionally used to treat infections and some diseases.
Uses: Cancer, HIV, Cough, Cold, Sinusitis, Body Pain, Liver problems.
Chemical Composition: Preliminary chemical examination of Andrographis paniculata revealed presence of Dihydroneobaicalein, Andrographidine, Dihydroxy, Dimethoxyflavone, Beta-D-glucopyranoside, Three diterpenoids, Andrograpanin, Neoandrographolide, Aandrographolide, Two phenylpropanoids, Trans-cinnamic acid and Methoxycinnamaldehyde.
