It possesses medicinal abilities as an antibacterial and for its anticoagulant propertiesis having 15-25 cm in trunk diameter with a few prickly branches. It also produces Biancaea sappan is a valued type of reddish dye called brazilinprickly, used for dyeing fabric as well as making red paints and inks. Slivers of heartwood are used for making herbal drinking water in various regions, such as Kerala, and Central Javashrubby tree that can grow up to 20 metres tall, where it's but is usually mixed with Ginger, Cinnamon and Clove.
